Johann Carl (Charles) Christian Albert was born in 1836 in Altenbeuten, Saxony, Germany. He immigrated to Texas about 1856 and settled in Austin County. He married Pauline Henniger, daughter of Nicholaus Henniger and his first wife, Catherine nee Alneid, who was born in Wilhelmsdorf, Saxony, Germany. Charles served in the Civil War in Waul's Legion of Texas.
