These more fundamental problems provide an array of intermediary steps to transition to harder ISEE Middle Reading Comprehension passages and questions. The ISEE Middle Level can be challenging and intimidating, but these “easy-medium” problems will build a foundation of skill, confidence and rhythm in a young test-taker.

The second half ( #181 to #360 ) of the problem set of this Kindle eBook contains “medium-hard” ISEE Middle Level Reading Comprehension passages and questions. If your child is currently in 6th or 7th grade, he or she can focus on these problems. These “medium-hard” problems are designed to challenge advanced test-takers to reach the highest ISEE scaled score ranges preferred at many top private institutions across the country.
The actual ISEE Middle READING Comprehension section contains five reading passages. The passages include topics related to history, science, literature and contemporary life. Some questions ask you to find a phrase or word in the passage. Each passage is followed by questions about the passage.
Strategy: Read the passage first to get an overall view. As you read the passage, ask yourself, “What is the main idea? What facts and details are given?” As you answer the questions following the passage, use the line numbers to help you find the section or lines you may need to look at again.

A pervasive characteristic of ISEE Middle Level private school admission exams is that they are very difficult, oftentimes featuring test questions one to two grade levels above your child’s current public or private school curriculum.
