The search continues! Columbus still needs to find someone willing to bankroll his exploratory journey to Asia, and little David is happy to help. Leaving France empty-handed, the two arrive in Spain just after the Muslim sultan Boabdil surrenders the rule of Granada to the Catholic monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella.
While many are celebrating, David soon finds himself alone and in danger as he encounters stampeding bulls. Rescued by Boabdil himself, David becomes a guest at the Alhambra, a magical red palace filled with twelfth-century inventor Al Jazari’s amazing robotic inventions! David befriends the Moorish king’s son, Ahmed, and the two explore the palace together.
But David hasn’t forgotten his purpose in coming to Spain, and he soon asks Boabdil to take him to Queen Isabella, so he can rejoin Columbus and help him win her favor. When the sultan and his son take David to the queen’s compound, however, they might be stepping into a trap…and David only makes matters worse when he asks one too many questions.
This fifth book in the Adventures of Little David and the Magic Coin series takes kids on a colorful historical adventure that educates as well as entertains.
