This collection of India adventure stories has no pretentious purpose. It is merely a collection of the most thrilling hunting trips into those fascinating jungles of India, where the “roar of the tiger” and the “crack of the rifle” turned sport into a fight for survival. The following stories have been compiled with a view not only to gratify curiosity and afford entertainment to the general reader, but to furnish useful information respecting the natural history and habits of animals, and the modes practiced by various sportsmen in hunting them. The stories are a description of the early days of sport in the vast jungles of India and have no more serious purpose than merely to relate the experiences of the sportsmen who hunted under such dangerous conditions.
