    This is an introductory level book on implementing and deploying Chef in your organization for automation and configuration management.

    This book starts by showing how to setup, package, and deliver your applications. Next, you will learn how to write Chef code and verify it works. The first half of this book will cover essential components of client-side Chef with Test Kitchen, Chef Solo, and Cookbooks. The later half of the book will cover methods and tools related to Chef server, Chef Zero and how to perform configuration management.

    Matt Stratton has over 20 years experience in system administration, and is highly knowledgeable in the areas of automation, data center management, cloud migration, and web server/e-commerce system management. He also holds experience in product management, and has a passing interest in front-end web development (especially Bootstrap).

    Matt Stratton is well-known in the DevOps community, as an organizer of DevOpsDays, as well as the creator and co-host of the popular Arrested DevOps podcast. Since he has been both a practitioner using Chef, and also interact with dozens of enterprise Chef customers, he has insights into patterns of success using Chef, as well as known pitfalls to avoid.

    Matt Stratton has delivered numerous instances of the Chef Fundamentals, Chef Essentials, and Chef Intermediate training, and was a contributor to the Chef Certification program.
