The author is telling you about the purge and death of tens of millions innocent people, including his father; his family run from Nazis during the World War II; disheartening treatment of the disabled at war by the victorious Soviet government, and more… The book creates a vivid picture and captures all aspects of the survival, which affect and formulate the characters and minds of people living there.
Throughout the book, there is a very human and touching description of family love and support.
