    About

The well-known hobby, that in some circles is considered an art form, of smoking and collecting cigars, is brimming with sophistication and sumptuous style. The storage, upkeep, and curing process in general, is a skill that is mastered over time, and cannot be completed without the implicitly necessary, humidor. Humidors have become exceedingly advanced-from the centuries old antique, inlaid with a natural-hair hygrometer; to the more modern, carbon fiber exterior, with a state-of-the-art digital hygrometer and active, automated, humidifying element. Even so, the concept behind a humidor remains the same. It essentially boils down to mimicking the environment that the tobacco itself is meant to thrive. In addition, the intense passion for achieving optimum results from a cigar, has continued, unchanged. Even with the advancements in technology, and perhaps the alteration in attitudes toward cigars themselves, connoisseurs never fail to lovingly tend to their cigars, with the assistance of their humidors, and thoroughly enjoy reaping the rewards.

Cigar humidor maintenance is quite a task to undertake. A significant amount of trial and error is involved. The reason for this is that curing a cigar is a very personal process. There is no one exact strategy to the cigar aging process. Certain cigar enthusiasts prefer to keep their humidor at a higher level of humidity because they prefer the resulting taste and burn quality, while others would rather a cigar that is slightly drier. As long as a humidor remains in the acceptable range for humidity and temperature, which is about 65-75% humidity and 54-75 degrees Fahrenheit, than the cigars contained will remain in a good condition, as well as continue the aging process. For most aficionados, cigar storage and maintenance is exceptionally fulfilling, and monitoring their humidor becomes a pleasurable experience. Indulging in a finely-aged cigar, that has a full-bodied taste, with perhaps a Spanish Cedar aroma, and a perfect burn-quality, is the end result of sustaining proper conditions in a humidor. Quite an accomplishment, with an inexplicably satisfying outcome, that can be enjoyed again and again.
