Vintage Visage present a sewing pattern for a 1940s style wartime wrapover utility apron, or pinny as they were sometimes called in the UK. This apron would have been made from scraps of left over material- you can see the stripes in the skirt area- as fabric was severely rationed at the time and the women needed to use every bit of fabric to its fullest. Wrapover aprons were also used at the time to protect the clothing underneath- clothing was rationed to and so everything needed to last not only as long as possible- but also as long as possible between washes.....
