Much has been written about the glass ceiling and about the pitifully low numbers of women in senior roles in business in the UK and in much of the rest of the world. Lord Davies' 30% Club is the latest UK initiative designed to raise the numbers of women at board level to at least 30%. This has spawned a number of initiatives to encourage more women to get the relevant experience required to step into these senior roles and the pipeline is steadily filling up. Slowly, very slowly, attitudes are changing.
This book is a collection of advice offered by 20 senior women, spanning a range of industries, who were interviewed over the last year and asked to share their best advice for the benefit of other women who wanted to do what they had done. They illustrated their points with anecdotes and stories about what had happened to them, and by explaining how they had chosen to respond.
Written by a performance coach, it is hoped that the book will prompt ambitious women to consider how they can turn the tips into practical steps on their own career path that will lead to promotion to senior roles and an enhanced sense of fulfilment.
