    About

Don't let "hip replacement" or "mastecdomy" or "heart operation" frighten you.
These are important medical procedures with definite benefits.
BUT, you should know your patient's rights in a hospital.
There are so many things doctors and nurses don't tell you.
We've all heard hush hush "medical misadventure" stories.
This book pulls back the hospital secrets curtain.

From the moment you step into their hospital world you are vulnerable. Twice over.
Firstly, you’re not well which puts you at a huge disadvantage regarding patients rights. Your brain isn’t working as well as usual so your thinking is slower. You can easily give the wrong answer to a simple medical question and/or make a wrong decision. Which could end up as 'medical misadventure'.

Secondly, you’re in another world controlled by doctors, nurses and NHS hospital administrators. That’s OK, provided they tell you the truth.
    Most do. Some don’t.
Even then, they speak in jargon. “What’s his ECG?” Answer: “Code brown!”
Even if you heard their soto voce mumbles you wouldn’t understand them.
That’s why I’ve written this book.
So you can know what you need to know.

I’ve had a few short trips into NHS hospitals recently. Sometimes as a visitor and other times as a private patient. It’s mesmerizing. I feel like an alien in my own land. I wish I'd had read this book years ago. It would have relieved my worries, my fears and my frustrations. It's worth a hundred times the cost. It helps you to UNDERSTAND what is going on.

Restoring the knowledge balance is the other reason why I wrote this book.

I’m a trained journalist, so I know how to ask questions.
When I feel I’m being talked down to with medical jargon, I get even more persistent at ferreting out the truth.

Doctors and nurses often don’t like being quizzed. But, HEY! I’m the Florrie in the middle and I won’t settle for balderdash.

I hope this book helps you get a clearer picture of the strange world of nursing techniques in hospitals. I’m sure it’s the same worldwide.

If you had time and inclination you could read all the medical journals, modern hospital management reports, surgical medical misadventure court cases, but you haven't.

This short book takes you part of the way towards knowing what happens in a big hospital and knowing your patient's rights. Read it today.

Pass it on to your friends who are worried by medical misadventure stories.
