Horsepower is a gripping equestrian romance. Already struggling in a dead-end relationship Amber’s life goes from bad to worse when fuel supplies in the Middle East cease to be available to the West and New Zealand’s store of petrochemicals dries up. Cars become useless and with imports and exports on hold, people lose their jobs.
Formerly a horse breeder and trainer, Amber’s career temporarily grinds to a halt. She is surrounded by negativity and unhappiness. People in the town become hungry and unsettled so in desperation, Amber takes up the reins again. This time though she uses her horses as transport. Her horses quickly become an important if not vital resource and as their value increases exponentially, Amber begins to fear for their safety and her own.
