This book has just been updated, now there are two short stories...
William is a five year boy that is going to die. It is December and he knows that he won't make it till Christmas. After going through a brain operation, he knows that he will die and be separated from his parents. His one wish is to talk with people at the church Christmas party, to witness to many people before he goes to meet Jesus in Heaven.
It is a sad story, but also a happy one in that even in the face of his death the little boy knows he is going to not just a "better place" like many say on earth, but he's going to Heaven for all eternity.
Passage from the book.
The Headache
It was a typical morning when Mrs. Christy woke to hear her son crying. She raced into the five year old's room, and asked little William what was the problem. "Son, what's wrong?"
"My head hurts!" He yelled. William was holding his little face with his hands. The tears were falling down his face.
"Let's get you to the hospital. Just hold on a little while longer."
His Final Mission
"I'm sorry I ran William. I love you so much and it makes me sad."
"Don't be sad mom. I'll be going to Heaven soon. I'm not scared about that. One day we will see each other again, for eternity."
His parents asked William about this mission he was told he had to do. The nurses had left the room, and William had time to talk with his parents, with no one else around.
Lisa was downstairs with a few of the people that were there from church. They knew about William's condition. They were now praying for strength for his parents. It had to be the worst news a parent could receive, that their child was going to die.
William couldn't think about the fact his life was going to end. He had too much to do with little time left.
_____
At the moment of death, William started to smile. His parents and the Reverend wondered why the boy was smiling. The second before he died, he said two final things. "I am ready Jesus. Take me home."
______
Christmas in Heaven
William spent Christmas day (and there was no night in Heaven) getting to know people. He was cradled in the love of Jesus, so even though he was not going to see his parents for a long time, he did not miss them. His tumor filled brain was gone, and now he had a glorified body. He looked older now, but he still had a child like faith that would never go away.
On what humans would call Christmas day, Gabriel walked around Heaven with William. They were still talking about the boy's parents, that were grieving the loss of their child. They had to be strong leading up to his death, but now they started the process of dealing with the loss of a child.
About 9 AM, or at least what his parents thought of as 9 AM, Gabriel took William to a special part of the mansion that had been prepared for him. "I wanted to show you that your parents will never be forgotten by Jesus. In this room I can show you the future."
The second story is 25 years later. John, William's brother, is an adult. He spends time teaching English in Korea and when he finds out that one of his students is dying, he helps him to make videos to put online to reach out to people in the world, and preach the Good News of Jesus. John is a licensed minister as well as a licensed teacher. He just wants to get the gospel out, because he was inspired by what his brother did, before John himself was even born.
