Renewable energy is a topic that most people are familiar with as it is now much publicised in the media. It is now common knowledge that there are alternative methods of heating avaible to the general public and that we must use them. Many of these renewable technologises have gained alot of publicity while other, less glamorous technologies are hardly mentioned, like Ground Source Heat Pumps.
The aim of this study is to raise the awareness of the reader to the problems of fossil fuels that are used for heating their homes, outlining the effects that they have on the environment and the current state of the energy market. Aspects of supply will be examined and the future prospects for fossil fuels and for alternative heating from Heat Pumps.
