Fed up of being used as an unpaid housekeeper by her crime boss father; Flo Connor marries and Flees to Chigwell. Her hopes of bettering herself fall apart when her husband runs off and leaves her; and she begins to realise that the East End is where she belongs. Upon her return she discover that her father is dead and his firm is on it's last legs. Suddenly she sees a chance to make a name for herself in the male dominated profession.
