With a lifelong love of bikes and of photography, I created this book to document the experiences of visiting and spectating at what I consider to be the greatest race of them all. Read all about my trips to the 2014 and 2015 editions of the Tour of Flanders, a one-day cycling "Classic" held in the springtime in the Flanders region of Belgium.
Considered by most professional riders as one of the hardest one-day races on a bike, the race course takes on the traditional racing on the roads, but also takes on steep, uneven cobbled climbs that pepper rural Belgium. For most of the year, these climbs are nothing more than farm tracks and a means to access the surrounding fields, but in spring time when the race is on they become THE place to be for cycling fans.
My book is a mixture of commentary and photographs and covers the whole race from the start in the rider's enclosure to the racing and the cobbles right to the finish line in Oudenaarde and conveys the passion and feelings of the fans and riders alike.
Hopefully it will inspire you to make the short trip across the Channel to watch the race unfold in the future and to experience the greatest race of them all !
