Seven year old Effie is having a very unlucky weekend. Her family is visiting her Grandmother’s farm, and Effie just can’t keep from getting into trouble. And when it looks as though things couldn’t get worse, Effie finds her Grandmother’s Secret Book of Magic and a Wand. That’s when things really get nutty.

Chapter 1
My name is Effie Pringle. I’m eight years old and I have a secret. Can you keep from telling? Because this is a really big secret. Nobody can know.
Except I have to tell somebody!!
Okay.
My secret is that I saved the world. Yes, even you. How? Okay, it all started on my unlucky weekend. The weekend when everything went wrong.
Wait, let me start with Friday. I’ll start after school, when the yellow bus stopped on our street.
I had jumped off and followed behind Tony and Mike. Tony is my big brother and Mike is his friend. As we walked I listened to what they were saying.
I really try my best to not be nosy. But sometimes I just can’t help it. Because I find out all kinds of stuff from listening to people talking.
Do you know the things that nine year olds talk about? It’s really interesting stuff.
