This books helps kids learn basic Hindi in a fun and friendly way through the characters of Buzz and Fuzzy. Hindi sentences are slightly different for girls and boys. This book is for GIRLS and describes the “typical evening routine”. Fuzzy is a cute girl dog who teaches Hindi through simple action-oriented sentences.
In this series, I have used action-learning as the basis of Hindi education vs. starting with the Hindi alphabet or nouns. This book would be most useful for kids who did not pick up Hindi in the first 3 to 4 years and started speaking and reading English first. This was the case with my daughter. We don’t speak much Hindi at home so she grew up hearing English. When I tried to teach her Hindi, she had already started speaking English and preferred to talk in English only.
In helping my daughter learn Hindi, I realized that it was easiest for her to pick up Hindi when it was associated with actions that she was performing each day. You’ll notice that this book is based on simple every day actions. I would say these sentences to her everyday when she was doing these actions and have her repeat after me. I would also have her read these pages out to me aloud. In a few weeks, she was able to learn all of these sentences and increase her Hindi vocabulary significantly.
Like with everything else, repetition is key. And with language, if it’s not spoken or repeated each day it can be easily forgotten. The Buzz and Fuzzy characters are based on our two dogs who graciously posed for all the photos. Hope this book helps your children the way it helped my daughter.
