Two artists – one from England and one from New Mexico – set out on an extraordinary journey exploring the Marble Arch Caves Geopark on the island of Ireland. They want to find out what memories are held in this borderlands landscape of caves, mountains, loughs, and peatbogs. With a gentle humour and vivid evocations of places and people, the book describes their encounters with farmers, musicians, potholers, off-grid livers and other local residents, as they wild camp and draw their way around the region. From this first journey, a series of radio broadcasts was created. The artists then designed a mobile studio – The Place Dreamer Pod – and returned for a second journey, taking the sounds of Irish voices, fiddles and bodhrans, birds, winds, rain and chinking teapots, back to the places and people where they were originally found. A delightful travel book that will transport readers to County Fermanagh and County Cavan, up Cuilcagh Mountain, down into the caves, out on the open road.
