This is a Ph.D. theoretical dissertation.
The book covers research covering the development of software which acts like an administrator of a distributed database system (DDBS) I.E. "DataBot".
The book covers a review of the manual effort an administrator must go through to maintain a DDBS, and tune the DDBS.
The DataBot monitors the query stream and builds patterns of actual use. Once it notices patterns in use, it measures actual response times of the queries and issues adjustments to the system to improve system performance and reliability.
