    About

This beautifully illustrated, full colour art book shows the exciting, surreal paintings of David Wilde, Manchester's Hidden Artist.
Wilde, 1913-1974, was notorious on the Continent in his lifetime for his genius in erotic art. His work had been exhibited in Paris, alongside that of Picasso and Salvador Dali.
This book does not focus on his erotic work. It tells us something about the artist's life and it focuses on his other work, the extraordinary, colourful landscapes of Wales and his native Manchester, which were never exhibited in his lifetime.
The paintings shown here are from the cache of works which the artist had entrusted to a close friend for safety, just before his death. The works remained hidden for over thirty years and have only recently come to light, causing a stir among collectors of Northern Art.
