Christine Jorgensen was a controversial personality when she debuted in Hollywood in 1953. Gossip columnists took all manner of liberties in poking fun at her, belittling her primarily because of the radical nature of the surgery which transformed her into a woman. Christine Jorgensen grew up in the Bronx as a boy and then as young man she served in the U.S. Army. Her problem was that she never felt comfortable in a man's body. My ebook looks closely at the Danish hormone treatments that were conducted by doctors in Copenhagen, beginning in September 1950. After more than two years Christine wrote her father that she was coming home to New York as his daughter instead of his son. My book also deals with Christine Jorgensen's ancestry, her years as a nightclub performer and her own assessment of how she fit into the sexual revolution which had advanced greatly by the late 1970s.
