About
To bring education to the children of trappers, railway workers and woodsmen in the isolated hamlets of northwestern Ontario, the Ontario Government converted seven railroad coaches into school cars, each complete with desks, blackboard, library and enthusiastic teachers. The railway cars, coupled onto regular trains, rolled out of North Bay, Chapleau, Capreol, Port Arthur and Sioux Lookout each September, to bring learning and opportunity to children who might not otherwise have received these precious gifts.
