Boxed Set-7 Books With No Pictures (Author Interview Included): The Complete Series Demonstrating a New Format in Children’s Literature [a Bundle of Pictureless (Picture-less) Picturebooks]
BOXED SET presents the complete series of seven Books With No Pictures in a single, value-priced volume. Included is an Introduction to Pictureless Picturebooks and an Interview with author Sage Merriman. The seven titles in this collection are: CARDBOARD BOX, MAMA DUCK, PIGGIES & TOES, ESKIMO KISSES, HUMAN BEANS, BOSSY PANTS, and GREEN BOAT.
As you might expect, Books With No Pictures maintain the familiar format of the children’s picturebook—but without the pictures.
Here’s the reason:
Children who are used to being read to from picturebooks, have developed listening and story-telling expectations that can be leveraged to help them learn to read. By weaning children from pictures—and making no other changes—books in this series entice children into acquiring the power to understand the written word. Together, these seven books open a new bridge between standard picturebooks and the “early readers” and chapter books commonly found on the road to reading.
Of course, once the seeds of reading are firmly planted, children enjoy returning to favorite picturebooks and are able to experience them all the more deeply.
