It was their dream to leave the difficult characteristics of the farming life which they lived, and move to Buffalo, New York. Modernism. (indoor plumbing, toilet tissue, gas stove, electrical appliances, a school, a church, and a corner store were down the street from our home. There were super markets in every direction. Etc.). Two years later Gladys holmes stood up for her rights and paved the trail for other african American women!
