Bobby Tambling is second on the list of Chelsea goalscorers in all competitions, with 202 goals, including 164 in the league, a tally that remains the club record.
Netting on his first-team debut for Chelsea in 1959, during a 3-2 win over West Ham aged just 17, Tambling became the Blues’ main striker two years later after the departure of Jimmy Greaves to AC Milan.
He captained the club at the age of 21 and was Chelsea’s top league goalscorer in five different seasons. Along the way he won the 1965 League Cup, was capped by England three times, and left a goalscoring record that would stand for almost half a century.
The foreword for this book was written by Frank Lampard, whose friendship with Bobby grew with each strike which rippled the back of the net.
