Barging On is the continuing story of Peter and Meg’s exploits on a barge called Colibri. The book, On Wet Foundations, tells the tale of how and why they bought a disused commercial barge in Holland, began converting a cargo hold in Belgium and went on to discover a cruising lifestyle in France. Wanting to continue their live-aboard life, they now have to work out how they can stay afloat financially.
Sharing their love of the French waterways is one way to go about it, but they have to finish converting their barge before that can happen. This takes a while, though, because they can’t resist exploring more of France first. And, of course, they have to allow time for some fun in winter too, don’t they?
The conversion of Colibri is completed eventually, but not before some things that weren’t supposed to happen have to be dealt with.
