The fifteen poems in this volume are about love, perhaps the most common and popular theme in poetry. Romantic love is a motivating force, a source of comfort and pain, and much, much more besides. Indeed, it is the very subtlety and diversity of love’s manifestations that have, I suspect, deterred me from writing on the topic more often. And then there are the negative aspects of romance which one feels almost guilty to mention (although I do in a few of the poems here). Only a few aspects of this complex web of emotion are covered by these poems, but they do signpost a lifelong journey of discovery of what love means.
