“I was standing on the second rung of a railing on the overseas highway in the Keys. I looked out over the water leading into the Gulf of Mexico. I could hear the traffic passing behind me. There seemed to be so many happy people going to Key West that weekend. I felt a little light headed and felt I might fall forward into the water 20 feet below. I started to cry. Tears flowed down my cheeks. How did I end up here, alone on the highway to Key West? I was even crying in public. This is not something we were raised to do in public. The story of my life to this point on a bridge in the Keys raced through my mind.”
This is a true as I can remember story of how I got to this point in my life. Have you ever suddenly felt like everyone in the room was crazy? With humor and honesty, I relate how a gay man raised Catholic came to realize that everyone in the ‘room’ was crazy, including me.
