Once upon a time, there were two monkey brothers called Aka and Ao who lived on a mountain.
Aka, the younger one, had a red right eye. Ao, the older one, had a blue left eye.
Aka wanted to make friends with the villagers.
He went to see Shiro who had thousand years' worth of wisdom and magical powers.

Aka got the power to change stones into gold.
Heavy rain caused landslides and flood.
Then, what kind of action did Aka and Ao take?

This picture book includes not only Japanese with kanji, but also hiragana, English and Spanish.

The main message of the book is "be compassionate".
    Please enjoy reading it:)

    -----------------------------------------------------------
Whether you are a parent looking for a good story to tell your children or a foreign language student
in search of an engaging text to improve your Japanese, “Aka and Ao” won't leave you indifferent.
It has got all the ingredients a good tale can incorporate: friendship, brotherhood, and, above all,
a spot-on sense of righteousness and duty. It will teach kids good values to follow in their first
steps on the long road to true friendship, and remind grown-ups of the beautiful relationships that
we are blessed with and that we so often take for granted.

As for the language-learning-oriented readers, they will benefit from its simple yet delicate style,
which will help them approach the beauty of the Japanese language one word at a time. The charming
illustrations as well as the rightly paced rhythm of its narration will allow you to develop both
your listening and reading skills while you are enjoying a memorable story.

“Aka and Ao” reminds us of the exciting journey to friendship and communion, a journey with no
shortcuts which nevertheless yields treasures richer than gold. This building of brotherly ties
it depicts is a common trait shared by another trip which allows neither shortcuts nor bypasses,
that is to say, the sometimes difficult but always rewarding process of acquiring a language.
As it is often said, it is the journey, not the destination... as this beautiful little book will
    make you discover!
