    About

Here you have Abbeys in England, a Travellers’ Guide. The Abbey has a special place English history from both a religious and architectural standpoint. Fascinating ancient buildings put together hundreds of years ago arising to magnificent, spectacular status despite rudimentary building techniques at the time.

Each Abbey has its own story. Inside this book you will read about twenty of my personal favourite Abbeys throughout England written with you, the traveller, in mind should you wish to visit any of them or perhaps you have a general curiosity and want to lean a little about each one.

Since my childhood I have been intrigued by the historical heritage of my native country including castles, on which I have written other books, and now the Abbeys. Magnificent things centuries old. How did they build them way back then without the modern machinery and building techniques we have today? Remarkable feats of architecture, design, building and magnificent in their purpose both religious and governance in their areas of influence.

Each Abbey has its own fascinating history and tale to tell. And that’s in addition to being wonderful places to visit and explore. So I have written this book – Abbeys in England - A Travellers’ Guide to give you a look at another twenty of my personal favourite Abbeys in England.

Some of the Abbeys featured are listed below though twenty are included in my book. Whether you are planning on a visit to England or just have an interest in English history then you should enjoy Abbeys in England – a Travellers’ Guide.
