Dear Reader,
When I wrote this little book years ago, it was surprisingly, one of the happier times in my life. I say surprisingly because the company I had worked at for 17 years had gone out of business, and I was unexpectedly without any job or income. I also had little or no chance of finding a position that would allow me to use my old job skills.
What to do?.... Well, I went back to school, and I had a ball.
To help pay the bills I began buying local items and re selling them on a wonderful brand new Internet site called eBay using a $69 WEBTV to access the web.
Soon, I had a route of thrift stores that I went to every Tuesday and loaded up my old Toyota TERCEL with treasures to resell that week on line.
I also became an expert at discovering all the local auctions where I could find amazing bargains to resell.
After about a year, I found I was paying nearly all my bills by selling online part time by working a few hours a week.
I decided to write an e-book detailing my personal eBay adventures. Along with my personal narrative of learning to buy and sell items profitably,I included many Internet resources that the reader could use to help them in their business.
My e-book was titled “Your online Gold Mine Guidebook”, and was one of the most popular items I ever sold on eBay.
The readers loved the insight into the buying and reselling of items based on my experience. I was not a professional writer jumping on the eBay business bandwagon, I was someone that was actually making a living selling on eBay.
While the unique and fun to read personal narrative section of the book was very helpful to a person wanting to start their own simple eBay business, the Internet resources became obsolete very soon and I eventually stopped selling my guidebook.
The recent downturn in the economy has made me think a lot of people might like a guide on how to find and sell items profitably in their spare time.
Thanks to Amazon and the new Kindle platform, I decided to republish my Guidebook and include a small updated resource section. The personal narrative section is unchanged as nearly all of the buying and selling of items information is still relevant and interesting.
In fact, the subject of buying and reselling items has become so interesting that cable TV now has several shows with people doing what I do. Go and watch the shows American Pickers or Storage Wars on the History Channel.
I have also re-titled my book and am now calling it,
“ A Simple Happy eBay Job.”
I still think that buying unique local items at low cost and reselling them on the Internet is the simplest part time business ever devised. It is also a great full time business if you are willing to devote the time and energy and treat it as a full time business.
On a final personal note, I've sold on eBay since 1998 to thousands of happy customers and have almost 100% positive feedback and still sell on eBay. My eBay ID is MrHulot.
If you're looking to start your own simple, happy, part-time business, let me tell you my story, let me show you how I did it.
Let me also show you how you can do it too.
