In the spring of 1994, after living away from the market town of Leominster in Herefordshire for over forty years, I returned to again take up residence. Of course, my circumstances were completely different than when I left to join the Metropolitan Police as a sixteen years old cadet in 1953. I was now a mature man who had experienced most of the excitement, pleasure and pain that life had to offer and reached the peak of my chosen career.
