Fernand Maria Emile Mourret (1854–1938) was the Director of, and Professor of Ecclesiastical History at, the Saint Sulpice Seminary, in Paris, France. He authored the multi-volume “Histoire Generale de l’Eglise,” (published in France in 1914-21) which sets forth the general history of the Church. The entire work was designed to embrace the whole march of the Christian centuries from the beginning down to the start of the 20th century. It was also intended to bridge the gap between the great histories of Rohrbacher and of Darras and the school manuals.
