Ken Robertshaw was born and raised in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
He has held a passion for Arctic exploration since the age of 8 when he heard tales of the extremes the region had to offer from his Uncle who had worked in Alaska in the early 1960’s.
Ken has been involved in many charitable fund raising events over the years, most of which involved some form of physical challenge, as well as practical work such as driving lorries loaded with much needed aid to Romania and undertaking the loading of containers of medical equipment destined for Africa.
This book is the story of Kens’ exploits as he took part in an expedition to drive a dog sled team across Northern Norway, Finland and Swede, 350 kilometres above the Arctic Circle.
Taking responsibility for his own dog team, preparing food (mostly reindeer) whilst enduring snowstorms and sleeping in a nylon tent in temperatures of -25C, Ken gets to live out one of his great ambitions in life.
He undertook the challenge to raise funds for the Theodora Children’s Trust, a small charity that provides ‘Giggle Doctors’ to help cheer up seriously ill children during their hospital stay. The Trust receives no financial support from the Hospitals or NHS and all profits from this publication will go towards their efforts
