    About

As a student at California State University, Long Beach from 2009-2011, I was among one of the first graduating classes required to complete the CalTPA (California Teaching Performance Assessment) 1-4. I completed them over the course of two years while earning my SB 2042 Single Subject Teaching Credential. I have been teaching full time for two years now (2011-2013) and just finished BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment). I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and Physical Education. As an individual recently completing the TPAs and BTSA, I know how demanding these programs are for students who have jobs, student teaching assignments, courses to take at night, and life in general. I did extensive research online and found miniscule examples for current students to use in a formal comprehensive format. I’m writing this book as an example and guide to students currently completing their TPAs individually, through a University, or another program. This document is meant to demonstrate to the reader how to articulate and demonstrate their knowledge using clear key word usage, structure, and content required to earn a ‘4’ on each TPA. These are the exact documents I submitted when I was a student. I organized this book starting with TPA 1 and ending with TPA 4 in a detailed step-by-step process that cannot be found anywhere else. The format is exactly how the TPAs appear and you can see my answer typed within the text. The reader will take away valuable insight and direct examples to use on their TPAs in order to pass. These examples may be applied to individuals pursuing a Multiple Subject Credential or a Single Subject Credential in any state.

This document is also a guide for the other nineteen States currently requiring the Teaching Performance Assessments for future educators.

Stay tuned for my BTSA portfolio I will be publishing soon.
