Broaden your word study understanding and instruction with this expanded word sorting tool for week by week implementation with Letter Name-Alphabetic spellers (Grades K - 3). This collection of sorts includes both picture and word sorts for students who are in the letter name-alphabetic stage of spelling development, beginning readers. Sorting lessons begin with picture sorts that quickly review initial consonants and then cover same-vowel word families and digraphs and blends. These sorting activities are followed by a short vowel study apart from word families and continue reviewing digraph and blends in CVC words. The last sorts introduce r-controlled vowels and contractions.
