The inspiration for this book sprouted from Judy’s desert neighbors: a fearless and tenacious roadrunner named Zigzag; Doggonegood, the fastest coyote in the Sonoran Desert with an arrogant and intimidating attitude; Coach Peterout, a meek rabbit with inner strength who trains Zigzag to race Doggonegood and Judy who shares the vista and vibrance of the desert with her companions.
Zigzag the Rocking Roadrunner comes to life through the author’s voice and the illustrator’s creative visuals. They connect the zig zag path the protagonists all take finding their role as members of the desert community. There are humorous and stressful encounters between antagonists who need each other to survive. It is a story that speaks to learning about “self”. Friendship, loyalty, and perseverance become a game changer.
An unexpected incident with a twist will surprise and put a smile on the reader’s face.
