Idealism. It has become a dirty word in our society. For the longest time I prided myself for being a realist. Yet, studies have shown that when we predetermine what is and isn’t possible, we only predetermine our own limitations. If there is to ever be a world without poverty, we must first be able to conceptualize it. To realize that it is feasible. This is what this book is about. Now this is not fanciful imagination absent of any pragmatism. Quite the opposite. I offer a logical and rational defense of why and how this is possible. The one percent continues to get richer while poverty, unemployment, and hunger persist in this country. Why? Because we allow it to. Chartable acts are not enough. We still have starving children in this country. Volunteer work is not enough. We still have suffering veterans. Profit driven companies and corrupt politicians are destroying our environment and lack any true consideration to our wellbeing. The 99% of us need to understand that if we can reimagine our economic system, we can make something we can all be proud of. We need to have the same visionary mindset that turned flying through the air an impossibility into a reality. Slavery existed as an acceptable "necessary" economic function, globally, for thousands of years. In fact slavery has only ceased being acceptable in the mainstream economy for the last 150 years of the entire human history. This is only due to the courage and visionary ability of those who believed that it could be abolished and more importantly that it should be abolished. Let us be courageous. Let us not cower in the face of such a daunting task. We have turned a blind eye to the needless human suffering right in our own backyards long enough. We have allowed ourselves to be duped into believing that this suffering is somehow necessary. I respectfully entreat you to open your mind and really consider what I have to present. Allow yourself to think outside of the proverbial box and look upon our reality through a different lens. We have the ability to be the Great Society that chose to envision and then make real, a nation without poverty. We only need to believe that it is possible to make it possible.
