This is a very nice book about a young boy destined to become a baron in Sweden. His father was accused of stealing the family fortune, and was thrown out of the palace. Carl and his mother need to find ways to keep their lands, palaces, and status. There are a few well-crafted surprises throughout the book. Very well-written and enjoyable to read.
