Starchasers
What fates could the stars possibly hold for a smart, hockey-loving fifteen-year-old like Liam? If it hadn’t been for the unquenchable curiosity of Lily, his Star Trek addicted and conspiracy theory loving little sister, he might have never known.
Woken in the dead of night by Lily, again, Liam agrees to sneak out and search the marsh near their Brennan, Alaska home. Lily’s positive they’ll find a UFO this time. Grumbling, but always willing to support his sister’s whims, Liam marches through the snow in search of the fallen star that streaked across the brilliantly clear night sky. With Lily’s UFO retrieval gear (a pair of oven mitts and a whole lot of bubble wrap), they retrieve the mysterious hunk of rock and begin to speculate as to what it might be. A meteorite? An alien egg? Lily’s mind reals at the possibilities…but the truth is beyond anything her fertile imagination could have ever conjured.
“Ah, talking goat!” Lily screams as she opens their front door the next day. Standing before them is Rabedes, a Satyr charged by Zeus with finding the fallen star and returning it to the cosmos. Stars, the Satyr explains, once everyone’s calmed down, aren’t merely meteors. Each constellation holds a living story of mythology; each star a specific scene. Their star contains Hercules holding the world on his shoulders. Atlas escaped the scene and the star, sending it crashing to Earth, in order to avoid being tricked into taking the world back.
As they race against time, with the help of an invisible flying horse, Liam and Lily travel to ancient Greece and scour the streets of Costa Rica, as they learn just what it takes to be Starchasers.
