The year is 1888. A policeman finds a woman brutally murdered. A young woman finds herself on the streets of Whitechapel selling herself to survive. Their paths are destined to cross. As The Ripper’s killing spree begins, in very different ways they are caught up in the hunt for the killer. By the end of Jack's autumn of terror, their lives will have changed forever and five women will be dead.
The women murdered by Jack are often portrayed as alcoholic good-time girls. In reality, they were desperate, poverty-stricken victims of rigid Victorian attitudes just as much as they were victims of The Ripper. In the desperate place they called the abyss, it was perhaps inevitable that Jack came to prey on them.
