Ernie's Journey to Japan is an adventure story for pre-readers and beginning readers. In this book Ernie travels to Japan where he meets Sakura who becomes his best friend in the whole wide world. While in Japan Ernie learns all about the culture and customs of Japan including eating with chopsticks, sleeping on a futon, and much much more. Ernie also learns to speak some words in Japanese. Ernie also visits some of the key sites in Japan including a pagoda, a torii gate, and even a rock garden. The book contains an activities section which teaches children how to make a paper fan, a rock garden, an origami dog, and a paper lantern.This is a great book for teaching children about the excitement of travel, the importance of friendship, and an appreciation of different cultures.
