My family has been cooking Filipino delicacies for many, many years. I, myself, have been preparing foods for my family for over 60 years, using recipes that my great-great grandmother Agnes used to knock the socks off visitors and friends alike. My cousins convinced me to capture some of my more famous recipes, and so far, we’ve put together over four books of recipes! It’s been a challenge, let me tell you, but it’s been worth it. Some of these recipes haven’t seen the light of a pot for oh, so many years, I can’t remember when. I have enjoyed recording them for all my future friends.
The recipes in this book have been particularly selected. You will be able to make them quickly, easily, and without much fuss or bother, using just the pots and pans in your kitchen. The results will astound even the pickiest eater, I’m sure of it!
One of my favorites is “Spicy Grilled Prawns”. You can either just lay them shrimps on the grill, or as my little Manuel does, thread those tasty shrimps onto a skewer. Manuel says that he likes skewers because his friends can just walk around, holding the end of the skewer and nibbling on those tasty morsels!
While I can’t promise that every one of these recipes will make your friends and family break out in a wide grin, I can promise you that your skills and abilities in preparing authentic Filipino street food will improve every time you make one of these superb dishes.
