Pu'er tea is the historically famous tea in Yunnan. It took over 1,000 years to complete the historical change from Pu'er tea in the initial state recorded in the "Manshu" by Fan Chuo of the Tang Dynasty to that produced with man-made formentation process in modern times. It was in the early 1960s that I began to contact and know Pu'er tea when four ministries of the state organized related experts to conduct the trial production and test of broken black tea in Menghai in Yunnan, where I fortunately stayed for two years. At that time, Pu'er Tuo tea was produced by man-made pressing; that technique, according to which workers proficiently pressed Tuo tea with a bench like a pressure lever, may not be seen now. As I was in Menghai, I personally picked tea leaves and made tea. Then, I was amazed to see such large arbors of ancient tea. It was at that time that I saw the tea tree king with over 800 years of age in Nannuoshan.
