    About

This book contains over 50 drink recipes which are over 100 years old. The recipes come from local newspapers and books, published between 1855 and 1910. Over 30 non-alcoholic drink recipes and 20 recipes for drinks with alcohol are included. Also included are interesting facts about the United States' beverage history, including topics such as the advent of refrigerators in the home and refrigerated railroad cars which allowed CA lemons to popularize lemonade in NY, as well as social movements such as prohibition, which furthered the non-alcoholic soda pop or "soft drink" industry.

Included in this book are 100 year old recipes for homemade almond milk, coffee flavored with liquid violets, flaxseed lemonade, Imperials, soda fountain drinks, egg nogs, ginger ales, root beer, spruce beer, rose leaf wine, hot apple toddies, mulled cider, blackberry cordials, barley water, fruit punch, Mexican coffee, Yuletide cider cups, cherry brandy, sherbet, currant and raspberry wine and more.
