The Tanakh is the key text of Judaism and one of the two key texts of Christianity. It is also known as the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament. It is the story of God's creation, relationship with mankind and collection of many thousands of years worth of prose, poetry, songs etc. Originally written in Biblical Hebrew with small portions in Aramaic it has been translated into most languages including of course English.
This volume attempts to remain true to the original text and does not adjust or add to the text. The intention of this work is simply to make the stories of the bible accessible and appreciable to a younger audience. It can be read by adults to children, by younger children themselves with some help, or by slightly older children independently.
This volume tries hard to include both those stories children may be more familiar with as well as those which are less commonplace and relatively unknown. Written with the intention of being a collection for those of both a Christian or Jewish background it unites it's varied audience and highlights how the two religious traditions share a key text which is foundational to both, providing for common ground. It is equally relevant to those of another faith background or a non-faith background who would like to learn more about the bible.
