This is a book that argues there is a better option than spending untold billions to send astronauts to turn Mars into another Earth. For far less money, we can create an even larger adventure that will require us to be as creative as the NASA engineers were who produced and ran the Apollo program. We should send small craft to the recently discovered exoplanet that resembles Earth. The book briefly describes the original challenge of landing a man on the Moon and the dropoff in interest after that program ended. It then shows how NASA shifted gears to more robotic programs as well as the Shuttle and Space Station creations. The book remembers the effect the original Apollo program had on the school children in the country and the number of engineers it created as a result of its success. It imagines how turning on a whole new generation in those fields as the possibility of reaching an external solar system becomes a potential reality. As with all my other books, the book is relatively short, requires no fundamental understanding of math or science, and includes many photographs that should make it an easy read for anyone who enjoys a good adventure.
