The Minesweeper’s Letters

This book contains over 265 letters that Ray Wissel, from Cincinnati, Ohio, sent home to his folks during World War II. The letters trace the journey of the 88th Infantry through Africa and Italy. Also included are pictures of the Wissel family, postcards from Italy, and some vintage photographs.
The letters are suitable reading material for middle-grade children through adults, and a primary source of information about the life of a soldier in the infantry. The Minesweeper's Letters is a supplement to The Minesweeper: A Cincinnati Teenager Serves in Italy during World War II.
