    About

Ghosts? Is Albert Haunted? Pogo Knows a Ghost When He Sees One!

Once again Albert’s laziness gets the best of him in “Albert and Pogo See a Ghost.” The day begins quite innocently as Pogo invites Albert to join him on his scowl for a leisurely cruise around the swamp, taking advantage of the beautiful day. Albert is happy to go along, just so he doesn’t have to do any of the rowing, of course.

However, it doesn't take long before Albert wants to go to sleep leaning against his favorite tree, leaving Pogo to tour the swamp alone. But when Pogo rows back out to the center of the swamp and really is all alone, he begins to hear voices. Frightened that there’s a ghost – or several – in the swamp, Pogo throws his oar toward the voices as commanded by the ghosts, and thus begins a most unusual day in the Okefenokee Swamp! Searching for the ghosts, frightened Pogo is heard to say, ““Man, oh, man! If Ah see’s anythin’ invisible, Ah will jes’ about die!” causing Bullfrog to wonder how anyone could see something invisible.

J.E. Bell lovingly constructs again the comic book adventures of the great Walt Kelly in this 5th book in the Vintage Comic Stories series. She sets the classic characters into action in the story, creating the mystery of the day: Is the swamp really haunted? Bullfrog doesn’t think so, but Pogo is sure of it. Even more sure is Albert when the ghosts appear to haunt his body.

Grab your children and come along with Albert, Pogo, Bullfrog and many more of the residents of the swamp as they try to answer the age-old question: Is there really such a thing as ghosts?
