    About

Every adult knows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim. A Christmas Carol is about things that are important to adults: appreciating others, appreciating our past and being a good friend to our relatives and other people we know. So, adults want children to know this story too.

But, the book A Christmas Carol is very difficult for children. It was written very long ago and English has changed. Also, A Christmas Carol was originally written for adults.

A Christmas Carol was required reading for my son’s 4th grade class. Most of the children had difficulty reading it. With one exception, none of them were able to read it without their parents’ help. The one boy who did read it on his own hated it. He hated A Christmas Carol!!!! Most adults will find that difficult to believe unless they tried reading A Christmas Carol with a child.

This version of A Christmas Carol will give you the great story. It will also help you get ready to read the original version. If you are reading it for school, this book will also help you with your assignment.

The original version of A Christmas Carol has some really nasty parts. Ebenezer Scrooge was a nasty man and said some very nasty things. Even if you are ready to read the original, you probably won’t enjoy the mean and nasty things Scrooge said. And you probably won’t like the scary ghosts either.

Of course, some people like hearing people say nasty things and like being scared by ghosts. They will enjoy the original. But they will enjoy this version too!
